Partners in Mission: Annual Bike Ride

August 7 @ 7:00 am - 12:00 pm

Please note that this is not an Illinois Prairie Path event but may be of interest to IPP members & users especially because a good portion of the ride will be on the Path.

Excitement is building around the 8th annual PIM bike ride taking place on August 7th. New riders have been registering in addition to long standing riders/supporters. Over the course of the last eight years, two hundred fifty different riders have ridden, some every year. So grab a friend and join the ride.

This year’s ride will be 55 miles and will start at the First Presbyterian Church of Glen Ellyn (as always) and head NW along the Prairie Path to S. Elgin. From there, we will turn south along the Fox River Trail all the way to Aurora (there will be a food and drink stop at mile 26 in Batavia, which Bicycle Illinois will run). From Aurora, we will turn back NE along the Aurora branch to Two Hound Red (downtown Glen Ellyn) where we will gather for a celebration lunch.

This year, the proceeds from the ride will be directed towards completing the construction of teacher housing on the campus of the Kamwenge Secondary & Vocational School in Uganda. In years past, your support has enabled the school to build a Kitchen & Dining Hall as well as a 15,000 square foot STEM Center. As you might recall, the school started in 2006 with 22 students. Today there are 1,000 students so the need for more housing has become paramount to attracting and keeping talented teachers.

If you are planning on riding but just haven’t gotten around to it, please register as soon as possible at Hard numbers are due (Two Hound Red, Bicycle Illinois) soon. If you are on the fence and have a question(s), please give me a call to discuss at 312.806.9915.

Thanks again for your continued support! Hope you will be joining us!
